Ruth Dodsworth is a prominent British broadcaster and journalist, best known as a mainstay of ITV Cymru Wales and also regularly presents on ITN news nationally and Good Morning Britain. Since joining the network in 1996, she has become one of Wales’ most recognizable faces, presenting a diverse range of programming including The Ferret, Grassroots, and the BAFTA-nominated Coast and Country. While she is most widely celebrated as a weather presenter, her career spans over 25 years of news reporting and lifestyle broadcasting.

In recent years, Ruth has transformed her private ordeal into a powerful public mission. After ending a 20-year marriage marked by extreme domestic abuse and coercive control—which led to her ex-husband’s imprisonment in 2021—she chose to speak out to help others. Her documentaries, Controlled By My Partner:The Hidden Abuse and Nowhere to Run, shed vital light on the non-physical aspects of domestic crimes. She now works closely with the police and other agencies to train officers in identifying the subtle signs of emotional and financial control.

In recognition of her extraordinary bravery and tireless advocacy, she was awarded an OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) in 2025. Ruth continues to use her platform to champion survivors, turning her personal survival into a beacon of hope for victims of domestic abuse across the UK.
