Slater and Gordon is one of the UK’s largest and best-known consumer law firms, with office locations nationwide. We recognise the importance of the role of the SIO in the leadership and management of investigations.

We’re passionate about supporting victims and survivors of crime, and over the years we’ve been involved in many cases that have allowed us to support the victims, their families, and police and authorities, in seeking justice and receiving any compensation due.

Supporting the work of senior investigating officers

Below are just a handful of the cases in recent years where we’ve worked in parallel with SIOs (through investigation teams and family liaison officers) to complement your vital work by supporting victims and survivors of crime; not just financially, but also via access to all-important therapies and support.

Westminster terror attack

On 22 March 2017, six people were killed and more than 50 were injured in the terrorist attack on Westminster Bridge. We supported a number of those who’d survived with life-changing injuries.

Listen to victims of the Westminster terror attack tell their stories and talk about the support they received from Slater and Gordon:

Grenfell

On 14th June 2017, a fire broke out in the 24 storey Grenfell Tower Block of flats in North Kensington, West London. 72 people were killed as a result. A public inquiry into the disaster was announced by the Prime Minister the following day.

Our team of inquiry specialists have represented six core participants and their families in the inquiry, as well as a large number of claimants in civil litigation arising from the disaster.

The inquiry was split into two phases: phase one involved our team providing recommendations and lending support to the many thousands of individuals left with dangerous cladding on their properties, and phase two of the inquiry saw the representation of our clients and their families in their fight for justice and answers.

Manchester Arena terror attack

On 22 May 2017, hundreds of people excitedly entered the Manchester Arena to watch popstar, Ariana Grande. Sadly, 22 never made it out of the concert hall alive, after suicide bomber Salman Abedi detonated a shrapnel-laden device.

We supported a number of victims and their families in receiving justice and support, as well as looking at the details of what happened, to try and prevent a tragedy like this from happening again.

Hear about the details of one of our client’s campaigns for law changes after the devastating loss of her son here.

Hit and run road collision

Our client, Jack, was the victim of a hit and run car accident.

He was left paralysed from the chest down. He now strives to make the best of every day and not let what happened to him get him down.

Listen to Jack tell his story and talk about the support he received here.
