Professional standards, counter corruption, ethics and vetting remain at the forefront of restoring greater public trust and confidence in policing, after high profile incidents of misconduct and criminality in recent years. This 25th annual conference brings together leaders from across policing and partner agencies to focus on one clear priority; Strengthening public trust through consistent, ethical, and evidence based professional standards.
Set against the backdrop of the government’s policing reform white paper, the conference will examine what reform means in practice for these critical areas of policing. It will explore how we move from policy to delivery, ensuring that standards are not only defined nationally but applied consistently at a local level. A year on from the introduction of statutory vetting regulations, the conference will take stock of progress, challenges, and lessons learned.
The packed agenda will focus on how we improve decision making through better use of data, technology, and AI, and how we join the dots across intelligence, information, and working practices. Bringing together professional standards departments, counter corruption units, and vetting teams, the conference will emphasise the need for a joined-up system that identifies risk earlier, acts decisively, and applies ethical principles in every decision. Ethical practice is the responsibility of every individual in policing, and this conference will set out how we embed that standard across the service in order to uphold the highest standards, to protect the communities we serve and ensure there is a safe environment for those working within policing.
