Rethinking Prevention in a Changing World
As policing adapts to an increasingly complex and fast-changing environment, balancing immediate reactive pressures with a sustained focus on prevention remains a challenge. Yet, it is through a stronger emphasis on a whole-system preventative approach, early intervention and problem-solving that policing can create lasting improvements in reducing harm, reoffending and demand whilst increasing public trust and confidence in communities.
The Rethinking Prevention in a Changing World conference reflects the Prevention Committee’s ambition to embed prevention across policing and partner organisations as a shared responsibility. Bringing together law enforcement leaders, policymakers, researchers, industry experts and collaborative partners, the conference will explore how data, evidence and emerging technologies can be used to focus effort on the people, places and behaviours driving the greatest harm. Through thought-provoking discussions, practical examples and cross-sector insight, delegates will examine how policing and partners are adapting to meet today’s challenges and identify new opportunities to deliver safer communities, stronger outcomes and lasting positive change.
