From a policing perspective there remain few more challenging investigations than those conducted into the death of a child.  We know all too well that when a child dies suddenly families desperately need answers.  Whether the death is the result of natural causes or otherwise a very sensitive and specialised investigative response is vital.

The NPCC Homicide Working Group’s popular annual child death conference is once again set to provide a unique opportunity to hear from experienced professionals and experts working in this area.  In 2021 the theme of the conference is ‘Developing and Enhancing the Police Response to Child Death Investigation’.  The learning on offer will help equip you with further knowledge and confidence to support your own professional practice.

Our 2020 conference was due to be held in Stratford upon Avon but had to be cancelled at short notice due to the rapidly escalating global pandemic.  In 2021, due to uncertainty about potential government coronavirus restrictions, our conference will be held online for the first time.  This has created a special opportunity for attendance at this event to be offered to delegates free of charge.  As a result, professionals working at all levels, from practitioners to policy makers, can access valuable and highly relevant continued professional development at no cost to individuals or organisations.

At the conference you will hear from Senior Investigating Officers presenting case studies about complex child homicides, medical experts in neurosurgery and paediatric radiology about scientific advances, academic researchers from the fields of policing, paediatric medicine and forensic science presenting latest developments, lawyers working in the field, professionals from the National Child Mortality Database, and the National Crime Agency who can support and enhance investigations.

Places are limited so book yours today and I look forward to you joining us.
