SelectaDNA and the Metropolitan Police invites you to a session on disrupting organised tool theft. This session will provide practical guidance on preventing theft, recovering stolen property and tackling organised crime networks that target tradespeople and businesses. Learn directly from those leading the national campaign against tool theft and gain insight into operational strategies that have proven effective in reducing incidents.
Attendees will also see an exclusive live demonstration featuring a specially trained DNA search dog, highlighting how forensic marking and specialist resources work together to locate and recover stolen tools. A Q&A session will follow, providing the opportunity to discuss intelligence-led approaches, investigative strategies and the latest developments in forensic marking technology.
Breakout sessions are scheduled on Wednesday, 4 March 2026, with available time slots from 09:55 to 10:25 and 11:05 to 11:35, providing flexibility for you to attend alongside other operational commitments.
SelectaDNA provides a forensically coded solution that marks tools to prevent theft and aid recovery, with kits capable of marking up to 50 items. Each item is traceable using a UV visible DNA solution and can be registered on a police accessible database to assist rapid identification and return of recovered property. Over 200,000 tools are currently protected, offering a tangible advantage in investigations and reducing opportunities for organised criminals.
This session is highly relevant for officers involved in burglary, organised crime and property marking initiatives. It demonstrates how forensic marking, proactive engagement with tradespeople and intelligence led policing can disrupt criminal networks and protect communities. Participants will gain practical knowledge of both preventative and investigative measures and see first-hand how operational tools and forensic technology combine to make tool theft a higher-risk crime for offenders.
