The UK Police Memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire honours over 4,500 police officers and staff who have given their lives since the introduction of the Bow Street Runners in 1749. Dedicated in 2021 by the then HRH The Prince of Wales, it serves as a place for remembrance and reflection, attracting more than 400,000 visitors annually. The Memorial comprises three elements: a striking physical monument, a pioneering Digital Commemoration Programme sharing the personal stories of the fallen, and an Education Programme reconnecting young people with the police. In partnership with educational institutions, resources are provided for schools and visitors. A new digital platform, in collaboration with the Police Remembrance Trust, will feature information, the Police Roll of Honour, event details, educational materials, biographies, and interactive functions for tributes and sharing memories, ensuring a comprehensive and accessible tribute to the courage and sacrifice of the UK’s police service.
