The continuous professional development of Senior Investigating Officers is at the heart of the University of Sunderland's Centre for Crime, Policing and Investigation.

The MA Investigative Management has been delivered for several years by experienced practitioners and has attracted SIOs from all around the country who wished to achieve academic recognition for their workplace achievements.

The 2 year programme comprises 5x2 day modules looking at professional leadership and investigative decision making, culminating in the submission of a dissertation which the student can tailor their study to suit their career needs and research interests.

In addition, the newly developed Postgraduate Diploma on Critical Decision Making for SIOs has been introduced to build on the successful completion of the PIP3 Learning and Development programme and national registration.

This is an opportunity for the student to have contemporary professional discussions and conduct meaningful research with other members of their community of practice.
